WWI race to the sea question?

Belgium, an otherwise tiny and powerless state, had one enormous et--the port of Antwerp. If the Germans took it, they could bring in supplies and fuel and not have to worry about outrunning their supply lines, the reason why most invasions fail. The French were also dumb enough to thing that the fortified Maginot Line would hold the Germans back--except that all Germany had to do was take Holland and Belgium and they wold sneak in behind it because its flanks were wide open.
