Will (.wav) work with most cd players?

i cant find a cd with all the songs i want on, so i decided to make one. only problem is, last time i made one, i downloaded all the files as MP3 and they didnt work on most CD players so, if i download the files as (.wav) does anyone know if that will work for most? thanks!!!
